The Marine Unit provides water-based patrol, response, and support operations within city and surrounding waterways.
All police boats must be launched from the designated boat yard at VPD.
Officers are not permitted to deploy boats from alternative locations unless authorised by a supervisor.
Boats must be returned to the VPD boat yard after use unless operational circumstances dictate otherwise.
Conduct a basic pre-deployment check (fuel, damage, radio functionality).
Ensure all officers onboard are equipped with appropriate safety gear.
Maintain safe operating speeds appropriate to conditions.
Follow standard pursuit and use-of-force policies while on water.
Failure to follow Marine Unit procedures may result in corrective action.
