Contesting Traffic Tickets in Traffic Court
In addition to the changes made to warrant expiry dates, I have also instituted the following procedural updates regarding the contesting of traffic-related tickets:
Eligibility to Contest Traffic Tickets: Any individual who has been issued a ticket related to their driving will now be eligible to contest said ticket in Traffic Court. The ability to contest such tickets will provide a fair and structured process to ensure that the rights of individuals are protected, and any disputed tickets are heard and properly adjudicated.
Traffic Court Schedule: Traffic Court will convene once every week on a designated day. This regular schedule is to ensure timely hearings and provide adequate opportunity for all parties to present their cases.
Notice of Hearing: Individuals contesting their traffic tickets must receive proper notification regarding their scheduled hearing date. Officers must provide the driver with an incident number when issued with a traffic ticket. This will be communicated to them in advance to allow sufficient time for preparation.
Traffic court will fall on every Friday from 18:00 pm - 20:00 pm, during this two hour segment all individuals will have the opportunity to a fair trial to challenge their traffic tickets if they so wish.
