From the Penal code:

"If a personal vehicle has been used in the commission of a crime, regardless of if the owner is present, the vehicle is subject to a progressive ladder of punishments. If a time period of thirty years has elapsed after the last punishment issued upon a vehicle, then the ladder will reset. The vehicle must be in the possession of law enforcement & stored in a secure police garage for a punishment to be issued. Reporting your vehicle stolen will grant you an exception from punishment upon your vehicle should it be used in the commission of a crime. This must be done the proper way, with law enforcement creating an official police report before any crime with your vehicle takes place. Failing this, a clear attempt to contact law enforcement to make a police report must be documented. ""Indefinite Vehicle Seizure"" will be defined as a vehicle being stored in the State Impound until further notice. Release of this vehicle must be negotiated by the owner to a State Judge. In the interest of rehabilitation, community service may be performed to reduce your retrieval fee by up to 50%. All community service must be signed off by a State Judge." /impound - Should be used to ensure that the vehicle is held for the appropriate amount of time.

The suspect should be fined the amount matching the penal code for the strike point number when the vehicle is being handed back after the duration. This fine should be done through the employment application using the charge function.

The Vehicle information should be updates as below in the DMV. A description added, date, time, incident number and the vehicles point slider incremented. A description showing the date and time when the vehicle can be withdrawn from impound is also helpful for officers.
