Radio Etiquette
The use of good radio terminology is key for success within the operation of the Police Department, with this in mind officers must ensure that:
Key information is given only, no extended adlibs
Say it as you see it
When driving, Direction, Cardinals then Road name. Example: Right, Southbound Meteor Street
Use landmarks when possible
If the pursuit continues for a duration, move to next above Radio Channel for the Pursuit.
Use Call Signs as much as possible
If you need to talk, arrange a meeting in person or switch to a specific channel.
If Radio Traffic is busy, use /311 to advise. Example: /311 200 10-41, or /311 200 Any more needed units on that 10-80 near Burgershot?
Ensure you use 10-codes as opposed to verbal commands unless threat to life.
78 calls should have location, and any information you can give such as a car color, make or what the suspect looks like as soon as possible.
No arguments over the radio, arrange to meet after the scene is code 4.
Ensure keybinds are set up for Radio usage so you don’t have to stop the vehicle.(SOONTM)
Use the phonetic alphabet as required. See information here:- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_phonetic_alphabet
Listen to the commanding officer's direction, ask for advice if needed.
Never be afraid to radio information.
Ask for a direct call by saying 200 to 205 Direct. They would then reply “Send for 200” and you would then send your direct message
