Securing Downed Suspects

When we have suspects who have been injured and arrested we should give road side medical to stabiles the suspect as best we can. Cuffed suspects should not be left alone and an officer should stay with them at all times.

The suspect(s) should be moved to a safe cordoned area, tents and cones may be used if appropriate. This area is known as triage and is where all suspects or injured officers should be taken. EMS should be contacted and advised of the triage area and that the scene is safe to enter.

If there is an ongoing hostile situation Triage should be utilized and any extraction of 95`s should be communicated over radio to ensure safe transportation.

Suspects should be cuffed, rights read and searched before they are placed into the vehicle.
