Organisational Structure & Chain of Command

1. Chain of Command

The department operates under a clearly defined hierarchical structure. All personnel are required to report directly to the rank immediately above them within their chain of command.

  • Officers must follow lawful orders issued by superior ranks.

  • The current rank held by each officer can be viewed on the official roster.

  • Available positions and vacancies are defined below with the desired count.

Failure to follow the established chain of command may result in disciplinary action.

Departmental Structure

The department is organised into Departments and Units, each serving a specific operational purpose. Certain units require specialised certification for day-to-day operations.


Departments

General Operations

Responsible for standard policing duties, patrol operations, emergency response, and frontline law enforcement activity.

Training & Development

Responsible for officer training, professional development, certification standards, and oversight of all operational Units.

Detectives Division

Handles investigative operations and includes the following subdivisions:

  • Gang Unit

  • Narcotics

  • Undercover Operations

Street Racing Department

Focused on combating illegal street racing through:

  • Targeted investigations

  • Tactical responses

  • High-risk pursuit management

S.W.A.T

Responsible for high-risk tactical operations requiring specialised equipment and training.


Operational Units

Units operate under certification requirements and specialised training standards.

  • Air1 – Aerial support and surveillance operations.

  • Moto – High-mobility motorcycle patrol operations.

  • Advanced Driving – Specialist pursuit and emergency vehicle handling.

  • Interceptor – High-performance vehicle deployment for priority pursuits.

Training for certifications can be requested via the ES Certification Application within the department tablet.


Leadership & Reporting Structure

Training Leads

  • Responsible for day-to-day management of their respective discipline.

  • Report directly to the Training & Development Department.

  • Ensure operational readiness, certification compliance, and standardisation.

Instructors

  • Responsible for delivering certified training courses.

  • Must maintain instructional standards set by Training & Development/ Training Leads.


S.W.A.T Operations

S.W.A.T operates under a certification-based system.

  • Officers must complete and pass a formal trial process to obtain S.W.A.T certification.

  • Certified S.W.A.T officers will primarily perform standard policing duties.

  • When activated for a S.W.A.T deployment, certified members will return to base to equip and mobilise.

S.W.A.T Responsibilities include:

  • High-risk tactical deployments

  • Class 2 and Class 3 weapons certification training

  • Breach and clear instruction

This structure ensures S.W.A.T personnel remain operationally active while maintaining deployment readiness.


Street Racing Department

Due to the increasing impact of illegal street racing, this unit has been elevated to departmental status.

Responsibilities include:

  • Intelligence gathering and investigations

  • Pursuit coordination

  • Tactical response to organised racing activity

  • Risk mitigation for public safety
